Meet Pat

I’ve been many things in my life, but through it all, I’ve always been a storyteller. Sometimes I write in rhyme and sometimes I don’t. But even when the words don’t rhyme, I love to bounce with the rhythm of a story.

What would you like to know about me?

In my corporate days, I was a vice-president of a Canadian bank. Then, after many years of wearing stuffy business suits and counting all that money at the bank every day, I decided I wanted to have some fun. So I visited thousands of children in schools and libraries in Canada and the US, reading my books and telling my stories. I even did a gig at the Toronto Zoo with an audience of 2000 people! And now, here I am at home, still inventing stories on my computer…in my pajamas! No more business suits for me! As a mother and grandmother, I’ve had decades of experiences that show up one way or another in my books. Most of my characters are unique composites of the people I’ve met and the places I’ve travelled. It’s a great way to keep my memories alive and kicking up dust!

Who was my inspiration?

When I was little, my grandmother would sit with me for hours and tell stories about her life. Some of the stories were so outrageous that, when I think of them now, I know she must have been making them up. But the point is, at the time, I was drawn into each and every story adventure – as though I was right there, sharing the experiences with her. I hope to bring you just a bit of that magic through my books.

What else do I like to do?

When I'm not writing, I love yoga, swimming, early morning walks along the waterfront, spending time with my daughter and granddaughter, and finding new adventures to experience with my husband. I especially love exploring new caves and spelunking, just like Cecil Bunker in Rhyme Stones.
